How construction shapes religious architecture Saint Prokop Church

Religious architecture is considered the center of faith, culture and values of a society, as well as an object of contemplation for centuries.

Its intricate construction and reconstruction and interweaving of materials, design and engineering is what gives these sacred spaces their eternal form.

Saint Prokop Church

Made with reinforced concrete structure by Ales Construction

Today, with contemporary construction methods, we are witnessing the art of rebuilding sacred spaces in order to preserve religious heritage.

Saint Prokop’s Church in Tirana is the perfect example that construction is not just a practical process, but a deep artistic expression.

The decision to use reinforced concrete for all the architectural elements, such as the domes, arches, bell tower and facade is a bold choice in the case of creating a space that is rooted in history.

Creating architecture that resonates with the spiritual needs of the community requires more than technical expertise. It requires a deep understanding of religious traditions and symbolism.

Close collaboration with church leaders has been integral to ensuring that the rebuilt church stays true to its spiritual core while embracing modern building techniques.

The reconstruction of Prokopi’s church shows that even in the face of challenges, sacred spaces can be reborn. That even in the present, we can build structures that stand the test of time.

The role and responsibilities of the contractor. Why is it necessary?

The role of the contractor is very crucial in the realization of a construction project.

But what exactly do they do and why are they so necessary?

A good contractor deals with much more than just building a structure. They are also project managers, ensuring that every aspect of the construction process is carried out perfectly. Their responsibilities are large and multifaceted, from planning to the completion of constructions.

The contractor manages and oversees the construction process, coordinating various teams such as architects, engineers and laborers so that the project goes according to plan.

They ensure that all necessary permits are obtained, legal protocols are followed and the budget and financial costs are kept within the predetermined budget.

Quality control of materials and workmanship is essential, so contractors oversee the work, carrying out regular inspections to ensure everything meets ideal conditions.

Contractors implement safety protocols to protect workers against hazards at the construction site.

Some situations are unpredictable and unavoidable, and it is the contractor’s duty to resolve problems quickly and effectively, even if design changes or delays are required.

A construction without a contractor is like an orchestra without a conductor. A chaos that would lead to irreparable mistakes.

Contractors are the pillars that determine the success of a construction project ensuring that each piece fits perfectly into place.

The next time you look up at a building, remember that behind it is a contractor who made it all possible.

Big projects & their impact. The case of AIR ALBANIA.

Air Albania is one of those buildings that cannot go unnoticed when you visit Tirana.

What catches the eye even more, is the 112-meter high tower (24 floors) in the corner of the stadium structure, which today is one of the tallest towers in Albania. This building of these dimensions was entrusted to Ales Construction for the construction of the reinforced concrete structure.

The importance of mega projects extends beyond physical presence. They serve as catalysts for the country’s economic growth, investment promotion and job creation. In the case of Tirana, the construction of such a magnificent facility has not only improved the city’s infrastructure, but has also strengthened the country’s reputation on the international stage.

Moreover, such projects have a deep impact on society by nurturing the sense of nationality among Albanians. Today this place serves as a gathering point for sports enthusiasts, cultural events and concerts, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

The construction of large projects often has challenges, especially when it comes to the implementation of reinforced concrete structures. In addition to strength and durability, its application in projects of such a scale requires careful planning, expertise and adherence to strict engineering standards.

In the case of tall structures such as the Air Albania Stadium tower, specialized molds and pumping systems were implemented for the efficient placement of concrete at great heights.

Beyond the challenges, the successful completion of this project showed once again how Ales Construction’s expertise in the construction industry helped complete the skyline of the city of Tirana with another identifying symbol.

Myths about the construction industry Revealing the truth.

The construction industry is one of the main pillars of a country’s development, and yet, as in any field, there is misinformation and misconceptions created over the years.

We thought this article would be the ‘place and the moment’ to dispel some of the most heard myths about this industry by shedding some ‘light’ on the truth.

Construction is purely manual work. Construction is a complex of skills intertwined with each other, where each of them has its own importance and cannot work separately. It is one of those industries where precision and craftsmanship are essential.

Starting a construction company is easy. Like any business, many construction companies fail to have longevity in the industry. Not from a lack of experience, but from a lack of understanding of what is really required to manage a company. Finding the right projects, managing people, money, bureaucracies, etc. are aspects that determine the continuity of a company’s success.

Construction companies take shortcuts. When dealing with companies that already have a reputation, mistakes are costly, so they have no choice but to prioritize quality, safety, high-end materials and skilled labor in order to maintain their name and the lifespan of the company itself.

There is no need for creativity in construction. Far from being mundane, construction is a combination of technical expertise, artistic vision and problem-solving skills. Architects, engineers and builders collaborate to bring creative designs to life, turning them into architectural masterpieces. A dynamic and creative industry where innovation thrives and every project is an opportunity to create something special.

What about you? What are some myths you have heard about the construction industry before?

The process involved in constructing a residential complex.

Building a residential complex requires meticulous planning, coordination between experts in the field, precision and professionalism.

Of course factors such as location, design and quality of construction are as important as the creation of a space that conveys the spirit of the community and contains all the necessary elements to facilitate the living of the residents.

What does the process of realizing these complexes consist of?

Initial Phase

The first step is to select the ideal site through the analysis of location, accessibility and market requirements. Once the suitable place is identified, for the construction of the structures of the complex, the purchase negotiations begin.

Planning

Designers, engineers and architects work closely together to develop a comprehensive plan for the residential complex. This includes the conception of the structure, the planning of the number of floors, the design of the building and the amenities it will provide to improve the overall quality of life of the future residents.

Legal Aspect

Obtaining the necessary permits and approvals from local authorities is a crucial step in the construction process. By contacting the regulatory bodies we ensure that we are in agreement with the building code and local regulation, respect the environmental and safety standards

Preparation of the ground

Once all the necessary permits are secured, the site preparation begins. This includes clearing the land, grading the terrain and preparing the foundation. In this phase, the water, electricity and sewerage network is also built.

Construction phases

Of course, the construction process is divided into separate stages.

  • The pouring of concrete to provide a stable base of the buildings
  • The main structure: side walls, floors and ceilings with high quality materials and qualified workforce.
  • Installation of plumbing, electrical and other installations that ensure functionality and comfort.
  • Completion of interior spaces such as laying the floor and painting the walls, etc.
  • Finishing the facade, cladding material, windows and doors ensuring the functionality of the residential complex.

Control of quality parameters

Throughout the construction process, rigorous controls are applied to ensure that quality and high construction standards are maintained. Regular inspections are carried out by our team and third party inspectors to identify and deal with any problems immediately.

With dedication, expertise and commitment, from the initial selection of the territory to the completion of construction, every step of the process is best planned so that we not only meet, but also exceed the expectations of our customers.

The residential complex is now ready to welcome new residents.

SAFETY IN CONSTRUCTION. IMPORTANCE AND NECESSARY MEASURES

Safety in construction is non-negotiable. Let’s bring it into focus a bit and go deeper into the information on the precautions that ensure a safe working environment for the workers themselves.

Human lives

The welfare of workers is always the primary concern, given the hazardous nature of construction.

 The law

Beyond ethics, compliance with safety regulations is a legal obligation. Strict security measures not only protect workers, but also protect the company from legal consequences and punitive measures in monetary value.

Productivity and efficiency

A safe work environment removes distractions, promotes focus and increases concentration, translating into productivity. Avoiding hazards and accidents ensures that construction projects are executed as efficiently as possible.

Cost savings

Security is an investment that pays off. By preventing accidents and injuries, a construction company saves on medical expenses, compensation claims and huge financial losses as a result of legal penalties. Let’s not talk then about the postponement of the project, which also affects the cost.

Reputation and morals

A positive safety culture not only attracts customers, but also attracts qualified workers who value the company for the good working conditions it provides. Reputation is a long-term gain. In terms of morale, when workers feel safe, their enjoyment of going to work increases, avoiding employee turnover and creating a motivated workforce.

Community
Construction projects often affect local communities. Demonstrating a commitment to safety is not only an internal concern, but also a way to show social responsibility and maintain positive relations with the community.

The steps that Ales Construction follows regarding construction safety

Albania’s skyscrapers, by Ales Construction!

As you walk the streets of Tirana, surely from time to time, your eyesight will encounter some beautiful, “gigantic” buildings that dazzle you for a few minutes. And after you see them, comment on them, and appreciate them, have you ever asked yourself how what you have in front of you came into existence? After some of the most beautiful projects in our country, the name Ales Construction is precisely hidden.

Our activity began in 1999 as a small construction company in the newly established construction market in Albania. The challenges we faced made us love even more what we were creating. Thanks to our passion for beauty and our love for the work, we succeeded in bringing to life the desires of everyone who entrusted us with their faith.

Our qualified and experienced staff, composed of architects, construction engineers, economists, technicians, marketing managers, and more than 150 skilled construction workers and specialists, have turned into reality every project that was once just an idea in someone’s mind.

Let’s together take a look at a very small part of our dreamers of the sky.

The Plazza

And who doesn’t know one of the most prestigious hotels in our country? “Tha Plazza” has been recognized as the highest tower in the city, with 4 underground floors and 24 upper floors.

With its style and uniqueness, this tower marked an achievement not only for Albania but also beyond.

Its grandeur is also evident in the panoramic views it offers. Every visitor has the opportunity to enjoy a complete view of Tirana.

4Ever Green Tower

Did you know that the Forever Green Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the Balkans? This tower stands at 85 meters in height and serves as a multifunctional building. It occupies an area of more than 12,400 square meters and has over 20 floors, four of which are underground.

The tower features four levels of underground parking, retail spaces, shops, seven levels of offices, eight levels of residential units, and a hotel that offers a panoramic view of the city.

In terms of design, the Forever Green Tower minimizes its footprint on the ground, with a narrow base and further expansion as it rises in height.

Unique and beautiful, right?

Air Albania Tower

We believe that the Air Albania Tower is one of those buildings that cannot escape the eyesight of anyone who visits Tirana at least once. The tower is a powerful identifying element of the complex, being the most prominent part of it.

The colors used would undoubtedly be identifiers of our country: red and black, a combination that makes this tower even more dominant.

DownTown One Albania

Downtown One Albania is the first of its kind in Albania! It’s a construction consisting of 40 above-ground floors and 5 underground parking levels. This multifunctional building is located in the heart of the capital city.

The building offers an ideal combination of luxurious residential apartments, contemporary offices, and commercial spaces. This project, which brings novelty in functionality, architecture, construction parameters, and environmental protection approach, is expected to be fully operational by 2024.

In addition to all the facilities, residents of this building will have the privilege of enjoying the best of Tirana with a panoramic view from the height of their apartments. For nature enthusiasts, they can admire the panorama with the greenery and freshness of Parku i Liqenit. And for those who prefer a bit more “dynamism,” they can enjoy the view from Skënderbej Square.

The Tirana International

Hotel is a 33-floors tower located in the heart of Tirana. This tower is an extension of the existing “Tirana International” hotel, but, this time it came as a five-star hotel.

What immediately catches your attention are the simple geometric shapes that have been used, specifically two cuboids that differ not only in material but also in color. A classic contrast of gold with black colour, wich gives such a beautiful view of the tower.

If you’re curious about the interior of the hotel, we can tell you that the hotel rooms are oriented towards the square, the center of the capital, with a view from the south with sunlight. This layout not only provides guests with the comforts the hotel offers but also the perfect location and orientation towards the city.

Lion Park

“Lion Park” is another one of our projects! This building offers 13 residential floors, while the ground floor consists of service units. It also has 3 underground parking levels.

The key architectural element of this structure is the balconies with organic shapes accompanied by concrete parapets with the same shapes. These balconies host a variety of typical plants from the region and climate.

Even though the same architectural language is maintained from the ground floor to the 13th floor, it repeats itself, adapting to the surfaces of each floor.

Tirana’s Rock

One of the most unique constructions is undoubtedly Tirana’s Rock. This tower is designed in the shape of the National Hero of Albania, Gjergj Kastrioti. Standing at 85 meters in height “Tirana’s Rock” brings a fresh perspective to the existing elements of Albanian architecture.

The extraordinary and distinctive shape of the tower is achieved through balconies that create an envelope around the entire building. Details of the face, such as the nose, ears, and chin, are mimicked through sculpted projections that create a delicate yet intricate geometry. The balconies also allow the interior spaces of the building to have a more rational layout while providing shade and comfort for the outdoor areas.

Today, after so many years of experience, we find ourselves as one of the most active construction companies in Albania, engaged in investments, construction, and design projects. We continuously strive to offer quality, accuracy, and optimal fulfillment of plans in all our endeavors.

How many beautiful things are still waiting for us ahead!
